Daniel Sckolnik

Writer · Editor · Author of Zen Volatility

Fifteen years spent writing about markets, and another decade spent learning how to watch them without reacting. The result is a career that threads two traditions most financial writing keeps separate: the analytical rigor of institutional research and the readability of a serious magazine essay.

From 2010 to 2013, ETF Periscope ran on Fidelity.com under my byline — more than 100 articles on sector, thematic, market-structure, and volatility ETF analysis. I produced that work as an independent contractor through a third-party publishing arrangement; I was not an employee of Fidelity Investments. The domain etfperiscope.com has been mine since the column began.

After a hiatus, I returned to independent publication in 2026 under ZenXen Media LLC. In the intervening years I served as editor of the institutional research letter The MacroReport and contributed several hundred articles to stock market education platforms. New analysis on ETF Periscope appears approximately every other week.

My first book, Zen Volatility: How to Survive the Next Market Crash With Your Mind and Money Intact — a hybrid-genre work on investor psychology, behavioral finance, and the Zen Volatility Index — will be published in October 2026.
